CEDAR RAPIDS — It’s over 12 years in federal prison for a Klemme man who was in possession of a stolen firearm and methamphetamine.

27-year-old Jacob Ganseveld recently pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute meth and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. As part of a plea agreement, Ganseveld admitted to distributing meth.

On January 6th of this year, law enforcement stopped Ganseveld for multiple traffic violations, with an officer’s K9 smelling a controlled substance coming from the car. Police after searching located eight baggies containing meth, marijuana, multiple syringes, as well as a digital scale with meth residue. Police also recovered a revolver and a box of ammunition.

Ganseveld was sentenced by District Judge C. J. Williams to 145 months in prison to be followed by a four-year term of supervised release.
