Mason City man arrested after chase through Worth, Cerro Gordo counties

NORTHWOOD — A Mason City man is in jail after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through Worth and Cerro Gordo counties.

Shortly before 8:45 on Tuesday night, a Worth County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road 105 due to the registered owners of the vehicle having suspended licenses. A pursuit began, with the vehicle going south on Raven Avenue, onto a gravel road, then onto State Highway 9, down near the Plymouth and Rock Falls areas, over on County Road B-20 to US Highway 65 into Mason City, with the pursuit ending when the vehicle crashed into a parked car near the intersection of 6th and North Madison. The suspect fled the car but was later arrested.

28-year-old Matthew Lowe is facing eluding, OWI, driving while barred and numerous traffic violations as he was clocked going 95 in a 45 mile per hour zone and later being observed driving at 110 miles per hour. Authorities say Lowe was under the influence of narcotics and that numerous other warrants were out for his arrest.
