Mason City man injured after car collides with train

MASON CITY — A Mason City man was taken to the hospital for treatment after a collision with a train early Monday morning.

The Mason City Police Department says they were called shortly after 1:45 AM to the 500 block of 6th Southwest, where a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Matthew Bernhardt was involved in a crash with a Union Pacific train traveling northbound. Bernhardt was taken to MercyOne-North Iowa Medical Center and treated for injuries.

Mason City police are still investigating the incident at this time.
