BOONE — The NIACC women’s and men’s basketball teams picked up road wins at DMACC in Boone last night. In the women’s game, Jada Buford led the Lady Trojans with 39 points in a 110-86 victory. Mandy Willems added 24 points, Autam Mendez had 14 while Lexi Jones chipped in 10. NIACC led 61-44 at the half. The Lady Trojans are now 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The NIACC men won their 11th straight game with a 106-100 victory over DMACC. The 11-game winning streak is tied for the third longest in school history, and the longest since the 1984-85 team also won 11 straight. Quentin Hardict led the Trojans with 37 points, while Deundra Roberson and James Harris both scored 21. The NIACC men are now 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Both NIACC teams travel to Kirkwood on Saturday.
STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA — The 23rd ranked Iowa Hawkeyes rallied for a win at Penn State. A late three pointer by Jordan Bohannon was a dagger in an 89-82 win. The Hawkeyes finished the game on a 10-2 run after the Nittany Lions had used an 8-0 run to erase a seven point Iowa advantage. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.
Iowa played without leading scorer and rebounder Tyler Cook who warmed up but was unable to play on his injured ankle.
McCaffery hopes he will play Sunday against Illinois.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Marial Shayok scored 20 points, Michael Jacobson had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Iowa State beat No. 8 Texas Tech 68-64 on Wednesday night, handing the Red Raiders their first Big 12 loss.
The Cyclones (13-4, 3-2 Big 12) stopped a two-game losing streak coming off a 17-point win over No. 7 Kansas that gave them a 2-0 start in conference. Iowa State matched its win total from last season, the school’s lowest in 16 years.
The Red Raiders (15-2, 4-1) were the last team without a conference loss and missed on a chance for their first 5-0 start in the Big 12, going back to 1996-97. The Red Raiders, whose only other loss was to No. 1 Duke, and Jayhawks are tied for the Big 12 lead.
Nick Weiler-Babb and Lindell Winnington scored 11 points apiece, including a bucket for each after the Red Raiders had pulled even at 61-all with less than two minutes remaining.
Weiler-Babb hit a tiebreaking jumper, and Winnington added an alley-oop layup from Tyrese Haliburton after Jacobson blocked Jarrett Culver’s layup attempt.
Culver had 20 points and 16 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Davide Moretti scored 10 points.
Jacobson’s double-double was his third of the season.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Spencer Haldeman scored 21 points, Trae Berhow made 3 of 4 from the free-throw line in the final 19 seconds and Northern Iowa defeated Indiana State 69-64 on Wednesday night.
Berhow made the second of two free throws for a three-point lead, 67-64, with 19 seconds remaining. Indiana State’s Cooper Neese missed a 3-pointer and the Sycamores (10-7, 2-3 Missouri Valley) sent Berhow to the line again. He made both to seal the win.
The game was last tied, 53-53, with 4:41 remaining. UNI (8-10, 3-2) led the rest of the way but Indiana State was twice within two points in the final minute and a half.
Haldeman made 4 of 8 3-point tries for Northern Iowa, while his teammates went 2 for 15.
Berhow made one 3-pointer and went 3 for 4 from the line for six points.
Jordan Barnes had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Indiana State.
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Nick McGlynn had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Drake built a big first-half lead to beat Bradley 69-52 on Wednesday night.
Drake (13-5, 2-3 Missouri Valley Conference) has defeated the Braves (8-10, 0-5) in three of the last four meetings.
The Bulldogs closed the first half on a 26-6 run for a 33-15 advantage at the break. Brady Ellingson made three 3-pointers during the surge.
Tremell Murphy scored eight of his 11 points in the first half and finished with a career-high 11 rebounds. Ellingson had 15 points and D.J. Wilkins chipped in with 10.
Elijah Childs had 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds to lead Bradley. The Braves shot just 19 of 61 (31 percent) from the field that included 12 missed 3-pointers while Drake was 26-of-50 shooting (52 percent).
Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye added 13 points and Luqman Lundy had 10 for the Braves.
IOWA CITY — The 22nd ranked Iowa Hawkeye women host Michigan Thursday night. The Hawkeyes are coming off a win at 23rd ranked Minnesota, a game in which they outscored the Gophers 49-23 in the second half.
Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says a key for the Hawkeyes is perimeter scoring.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Minnesota offensive coordinator John DeFilippo to the same position. The Jaguars also filled five other staff positions. DeFilippo replaces Nathaniel Hackett, who was fired in late November and landed in Green Bay. The Vikings parted way with the 40-year-old DeFilippo in mid-December. He previously spent two seasons as quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia and was praised for his work with Nick Foles and Carson Wentz.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have traded reliever John Curtiss to the Los Angeles Angels for minor league infielder Daniel Ozoria. Curtiss pitched in 17 games for the Twins over the past two seasons, going 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in 15 innings.
